BAYARD, NM – 08/12/2026 - Bayard Public Library is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Digital Navigator, a part-time position funded through a nine-month grant from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (DWS). The Digital Navigator will provide personalized assistance and workshops to community members seeking to improve their digital skills, access online resources, and navigate technology with confidence.
Beginning immediately, community members may receive free technology assistance by visiting the library during walk-in hours, Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., or by appointment. We can assist with a variety of digital needs, including:
Basic computer skills Smartphone and tablet assistance Internet navigation and online safety Email setup and management Online job searching and applications Accessing government and community services online Microsoft Office and Google Workspace basics And more!
"Our goal is to help bridge the digital divide by ensuring that everyone in our community has access to the skills and resources needed to participate in today's increasingly digital world," said Chelsea James, Digital Navigator at Bayard Public Library. "Whether someone needs help applying for a job, setting up an email account, or learning how to find free resources online, the Digital Navigator is here to help."
In addition to one-on-one assistance, Bayard Public Library plans to offer future workshops and training opportunities based on community interest and need. To help guide these efforts, Grant County residents are encouraged to complete the library's digital literacy workshop survey.
The survey will help identify the types of technology training, workshops, and support services most beneficial to local residents. Community feedback will play an important role in shaping future programming and ensuring resources meet the needs of the Mining District and greater Grant County.
