The Silver City Public Library is going through a much anticipated upgrade. The large conference room has new vinyl tile (MUCH easier to clean), as well as new movable tables and people friendly chairs. Double glass doors are scheduled for installation in the next few weeks.

The Children's area is also being renovated to include a dedicated craft area. The library has hired Karen Little (internal hire) to be the new Children's Librarian.  The children's summer programs are just about ready to hatch.

The staff work area has new carpeting and will also get a new glass door, which will help with sound reduction between the stairways and work areas.

New doors will be installed for the Small Meeting Room and the Director's Office. Again, the glass doors will help with sound reduction and provide more privacy for those areas.

Friends of the Library has provided funding for some of these updates. Our purpose is to support the library programs and allow them to purchase items that are not covered by their regular funding. We are able to do this through book sales and by encouraging gifts, endowments and bequests to the library. If anyone would like to become a Friend of the Library or serve on the FOL Board, applications are available at the circulation desk.
