Albert Jimenez, 90, entered eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at his residence in Bayard, New Mexico. He was born in his home on December 30, 1935, to Quiteria Lockwood & Cruz Jimenez in Central New Mexico, today known as Santa Clara New Mexico. His step parents were Thomas Lockwood and Katie Jimenez.
Albert Jimenez, also known as "Bertie"- "Birdie" was always talking about the special memories with his mom, and growing up in Central, and attending what he called, "his church", referring to the Santa Clara church.
He was always known to help anyone in need and welcomed you with open arms. His home was always open, full of food, shelter, love and comfort, with a house full of his children, children's friends, and neighborhood kids.
He had a great love for the beauty of the great outdoors. He taught his children about fishing, hunting, and camping. Out in the mountains you could always spot him in his (Willy) Red Jeep, along with all his numerous children, nieces, and nephews, taking them along the roads, and trails for many joy rides.
He was known to always be at the Cooper Little League fields, willing, ready, and able to umpire behind home plate. He called out strikes as he saw fit. He never wanted to see a child's disappointment due to lack of an umpire, so he would make his way to home plate to call all the shots.
He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Yankee fan. He loved going to the dances and was known as the best pool player in town. He was a big-time joker for anyone and everyone that knew him or crossed his path. Always sparking conversation and making people laugh with all his stories and antics. Even in his last days, surrounded by family, he still had his great sense of humor.
Birdie was proud to work at Kennecott Copper Mines and retired after 45 years of proud service. He always talked about driving the huge haulage trucks, and transporting all his friends to their destinations at work.
Our dad will be greatly missed every day by his wife, children, family, friends, and everyone else that knew him, especially his, "Beautiful Wife", Martha as he would always call her, for 60 years, full of wonderful memories, love, and many blessings. He was a very devoted husband, father, and always there for his family in times of need and the best "dad" we could ever have.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Martha Jimenez, his brothers Julian Jacquez (Rita) and family, Jesse Jimenez (Ernestina) and family, his sister Virginia Apodaca and family, Son Charles (Charlie) Jimenez, Daughters, Carolyn Jimenez Torrez, Suzanne Cabrera, Nancie Lopez and Charles Sanchez, Sonia and Jonathan Long, Suzanne and Gabriel Verdugo, Cathleen Horcasitas, and Sherri Sanchez.
