David Thornton "Tony" Rhodes
April 29, 1942 – August 5, 2026
David Thornton "Tony" Rhodes passed away peacefully at his home on August 5, 2026, with his loving wife, Tina, by his side. He was 84 years old.
Tony was born on April 29, 1942. Throughout his life, he will be remembered for his independent spirit, his love of technology, his service to his country, and, most of all, the enduring love story he shared with Tina.
Tony and Tina were childhood sweethearts whose lives eventually took them in different directions. Many years later, their paths crossed again, and nearly 30 years ago they reconnected, beginning a new chapter together. Their story was one of love rediscovered—a reminder that sometimes life has a way of bringing two people back to where their hearts had always belonged.
Tony proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy, a part of his life and legacy that reflected his commitment and service.
He later enjoyed a career with Warner Brothers, where he worked until his retirement. Tony had a lifelong fascination with computers and technology and proudly embraced being a "computer geek." He enjoyed learning how things worked, exploring new technology, and spending time at the computer—a passion that remained an important part of who he was.
Following his retirement from Warner Brothers, Tony and Tina moved to Deming, New Mexico, so they could be closer to Tina's family. There, they made their home and shared the years that followed surrounded by family and the life they had built together.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Tina; his stepson, John Martin Williams; his sibling, Charles; and his niece, Carolyn, along with family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Tony's passing leaves behind memories of a life well lived, a country honorably served, a curious mind that never stopped learning, and a love story that found its way home.
He passed from this life in the comfort of his own home, with Tina—the childhood sweetheart who became his lifelong companion—at his side.
In accordance with Tony's wishes, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers or cards, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Deming Humane Society in Tony's memory, honoring his life through support for animals in need.
May those who knew and loved Tony remember him with a smile, celebrate the life he lived, and find comfort in knowing that he spent his final moments at home beside the woman he loved.
