Horacio Villegas, 81, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at his residence. He was born September 5, 1944 at Villa Ahumada, Chihuahua, Mexico to Nicolas Villegas and Maria Chavira.
Horacio worked in Construction, did upholstery work and loved spending time in his shop creating wood work which he in turn gifted to his family and friends. He was a Devout Catholic and had a special place in his heart for the Virgen de Guadalupe. He was well known by many for his generous giving to those in need. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Anjelina "Angie" of the family home; one son, Carlos Villegas (Lydia) of Silver City; two daughters, Maria Elena Villegas Mendoza (Antonio) of Chihuahua, Mexico; Patricia Lewis of Silver City; twelve grandchildren, Antonio Mendoza Jr. (Paty), Laura Mendoza (Mario), Alonso Mendoza, Jerrika Lewis (Ramon), Harley Lewis (Ashley), Mykal Bennett (Terri), Steffan Bennett (Felicia), Zoe Bennett (Giles), Matthew Villegas, Brandon Villegas, Steven Ortega, and Alexis Gonzales (Ricky); nineteen great grandchildren; four sisters, Refugia Quesada of El Paso, TX; Margarita Jimenez of Chihuahua, Mexico; Josefina Carrasco (Victor) of Chihuahua, Mexico; Raquel Villegas also of Chihuahua, MX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Horacio Villegas Jr., six brothers, Nicolas, Jesus Jose, Martin, Alejandro, Humberto, and Gilberto Villegas; one sister, Rosa Maria Villagran; three brothers in-law, Roberto Quesada, Martin Jimenez, and Sabas Villagran.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 7th from 5:30-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to commence at 6pm with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 8th at 9:30am at St. Francis Newman Center with Father Ephraim Ezulike officiating. Concluding service, cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory. Inurnment will take place at Memory Lane cemetery at 4:30pm. Pallbearers are Harley Lewis, Matthew Villegas, Mykal Bennett, Esteffen Bennett, Ramon Pavon, Jerry Lewis, and Carlos Villegas Vega. Honorary pallbearers are Efren Aguirre, Elfido Jurado, Tony Macias, Paco Rubio, Michael Ogas, and Jerry Arroyo.
