Jack Martinez Jr., 60, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, May 3, 2026, at La Posada Assisted Living, in Las Cruces, NM. He was born on April 2, 1966, to Josie (Avila) and Jack Martinez, Sr. He married the love of his life Denise in 1988.
He was a very caring man and a sweetheart to everyone. He loved to draw and work on cars until he lost his eyesight. He went to NMSU for auto mechanics. He battled a lifelong fight with diabetes and fought until the very end. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, but a fan of all sports. His teams were the Atlanta Braves, Colorado Avalanche, and Los Angeles Lakers. He also loved Star Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Denise (Montes), He is survived by his uncle Narciso (Chico) Avila, his sisters Prissy Martinez, (Gordo), and Gloria (Shorty) Sifuentes, Mary Anderson. His daughter Tiffany Martinez (Frogg), his grandchildren Anayece (Ani), Rogelio Jr. (RoRo), Rhyinn, Aries, his nephews Mario, Brian, Sam, Richie, Xavier, and special niece Amy, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
No services will be held at the request of the family. He will be laid to rest with his parents and wife, at a later date. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Avila, Alfred Chavez, Gordo Lucero, Patrick (Frogg) Valdez, and Charlie Escalante.
