LopezJuanJuan (Johnny) Lopez, 77, a resident of Bayard, NM passed away on January 24, 2026.  He was born August 4, 1948 in Santa Rita, NM to Adolfo and Ansema (Orosco) Lopez. 

He was a devoted husband to Emma and loving father to Billy, Kenny, Steve, Debbie, and Yvonne; his step-children Tina, Suzette, Jessia and Josie; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Army 66-67.  He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He worked at the Chino mine as a laborer and doing maintenance. He lived in Denver for a time and became a true Broncos fan. Johnny had a smile that could light up a room and he was very charismatic. You could always find him dressed in his freshly shined cowboy boots,and cowboy hats. They were his prized possessions. He was quite witty and enjoyed telling jokes. Johnny loved to dance. He was an amazing dancer. He made friends easily. He was average in stature but was extremely strong physically. Johnny lived fast and hard and lived a full life. He was truly loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for friends and family.  He liked giving advice when needed.  Though he may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his years of fatherly love honored.  He left a lasting impact on all who knew him. 

He is survived by his wife Emma of the family home, his children, Kenny Lopez (Elena), Steve Lopez (Crystal), Debbie Baca (Adam); Yvonne Lopez; step-children, Tina Lopez, Suzette Escudero (David), Jessica Gonzalez, Josie Delgado (Michael); his siblings, Steve Lopez, (Cecilia), Robert Lopez, of Phoenix, AZ;  Eugene Martinez of Las Cruces;  his four sisters, Gloria Lopez, Nancy Lopez, Rosemary Lopez, Imelda Lopez all of Phoenix, AZ; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Billy Lopez; his brothers, Alvino and Jimmy; his sister, Anna.

Also, many friends and extended family who will miss him dearly.  We find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us; the love he shared and all the memories we will treasure forever.
