It is with heaviest heart and most breathtakingly overwhelmed emotion to announce that Marissa Gabrielle Tecca born 29 January 1989 rejoined the great spirit and the spirits of her ancestors on the morning of 18 September 2026.
The beautiful force of purest nature known as Marissa Gabrielle Tecca, "Misha" or "Mish" to her closest loved ones, powered through life leading with love and affection for family and friends. She stood as a fierce warning beacon for anyone that dared cross her family, and a lovingly devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunty, cousin, and wife. She was all of these things while wearing an infectious smile and a carefree laugh that can still be heard echoing through the trees on the breath of a mountain wind. Throughout her life, she explored the wilderness with childlike wonder and romantic inspiration, guided by the spirit of the hummingbird. She bore an unparalleled musical talent in both wind and string instruments. Yet it brought her greatest joy to tickle the eardrums of friends and family with new music while paying reverence to the classics; everything from The Weepies to Pink Floyd, with a couple of stops in the land of the Smashing Pumpkins and the streets of Nico.
For her, the world's guitar gently weeps. If you're lucky enough and you listen close enough, you'll hear the light trill of her piccolo or the resonant vibrations of her Takamine in a cool afternoon breeze. She loved love, falling in love, reading about love, playing songs about love, and sharing love with her family and friends. She was a never-ending supply of positivity and happiness. She could talk to anyone and truly listen; she could hear music in the souls of those she engaged with. She inspired everyone she met and left lasting impressions with everything she encountered. As a daughter, she idolized her parents, eager to please and make proud. As a sister, she adored her brothers, talking with them, playing music with them, being truly enamored with presence. As a cousin, she was sought after for advice when things were difficult. As an Aunty, she was entrusted with the most sacred of all gentleness towards a new generation. As a wife, she strove to create a full and cheerful household echoing with laughter and brimming with love, good food, barking dogs, and great music. As a mother she epitomized the truth of selflessness, embodying the ancestral spirits of the women and mothers that came before her, passing her strength and her beauty on to her two beautiful and adoring daughters, Ellie Jo and Addie May. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit lives on through her children, her family, and everyone she met. She's never far away, you just have to listen.
She is survived by her husband William Rasband; daughters, Ellie Joe and Addie May; her parents, Lucinda and Steve Tecca; her brothers, Miah (Jennifer), Joel (Jen), and Zack (Scarlett) Tecca. Also surviving her is her grandmother, Irene Gomez and numerous aunts and uncles, all of her nieces and nephews, countless cousins, and everyone that she ever encountered. Marissa was preceded in death by her grandfather, Danny Gomez; her beloved Nana, Cuca Tovar, and her beloved Godmother, Mary Ann Gomez.
The sun is a little darker, the nights a little colder, the world a little worse off without her enchanting physical presence, her beautiful smile, her musical talent, and her childlike wonder.

Look at the next full moon and see her shining light in your darkest night. She loved everyone and everything. She is missed more than words could justify, more than a song could capture, more than can truly be understood. You were taken too soon. We loved you then, we love you now, we love you always.
