Paul Martinez, 83, of Hurley, NM passed away August 14, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.
At Paul's request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service and celebration of his life will be at Eleven o'clock in the morning on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Silver City. Officiating will be Dr. Gilbert Arizaga. His ashes will be laid to rest at a later date in Farmington, NM
Paul was born was born August 29, 1942 in Coyote, NM to Joe and Lori Martinez. He had been a resident of Grant County for about the last 18 years, coming from Farmington, NM. He had work and retired as an engineer for the mining industry in various parts of the country. Paul was a member of the Moose Lodge as well as a member of the Roman Catholic Church, Infant Jesus Shrine in Hurley.
Paul is survived by his wife Teresa Martinez; sons, Paul Martinez, Jr. and Rick Martinez both of Farmington, NM; daughter, Criselia Samora of Farmington, NM; step daughters, Debi Martinez of Hurley, NM, Patti Treviso of Silver City, NM and Denise Juarez of Las Vegas, NV.; brother, Leonard Martinez of Farmington, NM; sisters, Pricilla Lopez of Farmington, NM, Pearl Gillespie of Meza, AZ, and Susie Park of Farmington, NM. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lawrence "Lori" Martinez; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Theresa Martinez, step-son, Roy Martinez, Jr. and brother-in-law, Brett Gillespie.
