MontoyaSusanSusan Bennett Montoya, age 73, with great sadness and devastation we share the sudden passing of our dear mother and wife on May 30, 2026, in Silver City, New Mexico. Born November 30, 1952, in El Paso, Texas, Susan lived a life filled with love, dedication, and an unwavering passion for education and family. Together, they built a loving home in Mimbres, New Mexico, where they raised three children: Shayne Montoya, Susan Montoya, and their late son Rusty Montoya, whose memory Susan cherished deeply. She treated every student with care and compassion. Her dedication to her students was unparalleled. Later in life, Susan transitioned into counseling.

Susan was an extraordinary cook and baker, renowned for her famous carrot cake that graced every special occasion. A skilled seamstress, she found joy in sewing and creating with her hands.  Susan was an avid reader who spent countless hours reading. Despite many years of health battles, she was always strong, positive, and her sense of humor was infectious. She loved making people laugh and had a laugh that was truly unforgettable. Susan's love extended beyond her immediate family to include her grandson Alexander Ellis, who was the light of her life. From the moment Alex was born, he held a special place in his Granny's heart.
