Theresa Marie Alvarado, 51, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Providence Care Campus in El Paso, TX. She was born November 14, 1974 in Silver City, NM to Robert "Raton" Alvarado and Rosalina Polanco Alvarado.
Theresa's life was not always easy, and she faced her share of struggles and difficult times, but through it all, she had a heart filled with love for the people who meant the most to her. She dedicated approximately 17 years to Cobre Consolidated Schools as a Teacher's Aide, where she had a special way of working with students with special needs. Her patience, compassion, and caring heart allowed her to make a difference in the lives of many students throughout the years.
Theresa will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her family held a very special place in her heart, especially her eight grandchildren, who brought her so much happiness. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews and was especially happy to have recently become a great-aunt. She was also looking forward with great excitement to welcoming another grandchild into the family.
Those who knew Theresa will remember her happy spirit, her big heart, and the love she carried for her family. While her journey through life had its challenges, those challenges did not define who she was. She was so much more—the woman beneath them was someone who loved deeply, cared greatly, and mattered immensely to those who loved her.
It brings comfort to those she leaves behind to believe that Theresa has finally found the peace she so greatly deserved. May she always be remembered not for the difficult chapters of her life, but for the love she gave, the lives she touched, the laughter and memories she leaves behind, and the special place she will forever hold in the hearts of her family. Theresa was loved, she mattered, and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her father, Robert "Raton" Alvarado of Bayard; her companion, Michael Chavez of Silver City; one son, Matthew Gonzales (Yasmine) of Las Cruces, NM; three daughters, Angelica and Christeen Gonzales of Bayard, NM; and Gabby Nuñez of TN; one brother, Luis Alvarado and wife Michelle of Silver City; one sister, Marissa Alvarado (Fernando) of Las Cruces, NM.; her aunt, Becky Alvarado of Bayard; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosalina; a daughter, Angelina Gonzales.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2nd from 9:30-10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to commence at 10am with Deacon Art Gutierrez reciting. The funeral mass will follow at 11:30am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Tony Basso officiating. Concluding service interment will take place at Hanover cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her mother. Pallbearers are Ariel Alvarado, Luis Alvarado, Fernando Aguilar, Alfred Rodriguez, Matthew Gonzales, Damian Gomez, Paco Arzola and Willie Andazola.
