Albuquerque, NM – The U.S. Marshals Service, Southwest Investigative Fugitive Taskforce located and apprehended a man wanted for murder September 14. Subject was arrested near Barbara Loop SE and Deborah rd. SE in Rio Rancho.
Richard Cardona,44, was wanted by the State of New Mexico for multiple warrants to include murder, conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with evidence of a murder, and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence of a murder.
Cardona was also wanted for a federal probation warrant, following a 2016 federal conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
"The safety and security of our communities is our number one priority," said U.S. Marshal for the District of New Mexico David O. Barnett Jr. "We remain relentless in our pursuit to ensure those that commit heinous crimes are brought to justice.
Following his arrest, Cardona was booked into the Sandoval County Jail, without incident.
This arrest was the result of efforts by the Albuquerque Police Department, Rio Rancho Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
The Southwest Investigative Fugitive Task Force has focused resources and efforts on the improvement of public safety and the reduction of violence in New Mexico, through the identification, investigation, and apprehension of fugitives wanted for heinous crimes against the community, while ensuring the equal application of Justice, Integrity, and Service for all.
