The Mining District Column
by Mary Walker

It's the day after Thanksgiving and I imagine most of you are still feeling quite full from a day of festive eating. I like to stretch out holidays and enjoy them as long as possible. Thanksgiving in particular, in my humble opinion, needs to last a long time as we remember day by day, to give thanks for who are, who we can still become and for all that we have. It is also a time to be thankful that those of us who have more, are able to share with those who have less.

This past year, The Bayard Pubic Library has become a major hub of activity for the city of Bayard, holding many events for both young and old. Thanks go out to all that are making this possible.

Raven Drake recently gave a poetry reading at the Bayard Public Library titled, "Invocations: The Poetry of Raven Drake." Below is a photo from that event.

The Fall Season:
This year, the trees in the area have been absolutely gorgeous as their leaves turn, leaves shimmering in varying shades of gold, red, orange, and yellow. This fall's colors seem to be the best I've seen in the past several years, and it is particularly awesome driving through the Mimbres. I hope you have enjoyed the colors as much as I have. Those of us living in the Mining District and Grant County are blessed to be able to witness four distinct and beautiful seasons.

Till next time . . .
