Looking to redeem themselves from their first meeting with the Falcons, the Mustangs played host to UT - Permian Basin to open the second round of conference play.

The Falcons got on the board first by none other than leading scorer Jacob Ledoux, taking matters into his own hands scoring the first seven points of the game.

Davis Wade (Jackson, MS/Will C Wood) broke a 14-0 run by the Falcons, finding the basket beyond the arc.

Through eight minutes of play, Western found themselves down 31-11. Eddie Giron (Monterrey, Mexico/Harmony Science Academy) would hit back-to-back threes, followed by one from Amarion Cash (Phoenix, AZ/Mountain Pointe) to get the team rolling. An 13-4 scoring run allowed the Mustangs to cut into the lead.

A three from Willie McCray (Clovis, NM/Clovis/Westwind Prep Academy) the team's sixth, broke the double-digits deficit. CJ Vanbeekum (Phoenix, AZ/Paradise) found Jon-Reese Woodson (Corpus Christi, TX/Carroll) across the court wide open, slamming it down keeping the Mustangs in the game.

With just under a minute left, Davis Wade (Jackson, MS/Will C Wood) would come up big again for Western on top of drawing the foul.

Despite a slow start, Western was able to close in on Permian Basin trailing 37-48 at the half.

An offensive rebound and layup from Leston Gordon (Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago/Tunapuna Government Secondary) led to a Falcon three. Jordan Enriquez (El Paso, TX/Bel Air) would answer with a two of his own, followed up by Davis Wade's (Jackson, MS/Will C Wood) third on the night.

The Falcons continued to build a lead throughout the half.

Little by little the Mustangs ate away at a double-digit deficit and continually answered back to keep the UTPB lead in single digits.

Wade would foul out after hitting his sixth three-pointer, leading the team with 21 points on the night.

One last layup from Cash give the Mustangs one last lift, but it was not enough as the visiting Falcons took home a 105-99 victory.

Wade was followed up by Eddie Giron (Monterrey, Mexico/Harmony Science Academy) with 19 points, shooting 5-8 from the floor, 2-3 from three-point range and 7-7 from the foul line. Willie McCray (Clovis, NM/Clovis/Westwind Prep Academy) (14), Leston Gordon (Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago/Tunapuna Government Secondary) (12) and Amarion Cash (Phoenix, AZ/Mountain Pointe) (10) were the three other Mustangs with double-digit scoring.

The Mustang men will hit the road next week to meet up with West Texas A&M and cross state rival Eastern New Mexico.
