The Western New Mexico University cross country teams competed in the RMAC Championships Saturday with the men placing 11th and the women 13th. On the men's side, WNMU recorded 330 points to grab 11th out of 13 teams. Adams State University took the title with 30 points, winning by 14 over Colorado Mines. ASU's Tabor Stevens won on the individual side with a time of 3:08.4.
Luis Figueroa paced WNMU with a time of 3:25.2 to grab 44th. Joshua Solorzano was the next across with a 72nd finish behind a time of 3:37.3. Glenn Ochoa was right behind with a time of 3:38.6 to land in 76th. Anthony Martinez posted a time of 3:44.1 to place 87th. Rounding out the runners for the Mustangs, Miguel Narvaez placed in 105 with a time of 4:20.5.
On the women's side, WNMU finished in 13th out of 14 teams with 315 points, while Adams State University also took the women's title with 21 points, besting Western State in second by 25. ASU's Alicia Nelson took the individual title with a time of 3:39.6.
Melina Tolentino was the first across for the Lady Mustangs with a time of 4:13.0 to place 48th. Erika Beltran and Karrie Ann Savage placed in 69th and 70th, respectively with times of 4:22.6 and 4:22.8. Aimee Apodaca came in 77th with a time of 4:25.9. Rounding out the runners for WNMU, Viviana Ruiz in 87th with a time of 4:31.9 and Katherine Sanchez with a time of 4:37.5 to land in 93rd.
WNMU will return to action on Nov. 3 in the South Central Regional Championships that will be held in Denver.
