WNMU women's basketball ran into an oversized buzz saw Saturday night as they fell to the Cougars of Colorado Christian at home 92-63. The size of CCU, 6 players over 5-11 couldn't be matched by the Mustangs who nonetheless gave the visiting team a tough time early.

Christian jumped out to an early 5 point lead, 7-2, but Morgan Wohltman hit a pair of free throws to spark a Lady Stang rally. Heather Hamilton added a pair from the charity strip followed by a Wohltman steal leading to a five foot jump shot and WNMU had their first lead at 8-7. After a made lay up by CCU, Kassie Scott would nail a three point shot to give the home team a two point advantage with about twelve and a half minutes to go in the first stanza.

Christian would then turn up the defensive intensity and use their size advantage inside the lane to put together a 13-0 run that gave then the half time lead, 39-25. WNMU didn't have an answer in the second half as Christian used their size and depth advantage to run put up 53 points points in the second half compared to 38 for the Lady Stangs.

Kassie Scott lead the Mustang scorers with 21 while Hamilton added 16 and Wohltman 12. CCU hit 52% of their shots on the night holding the Mustang shooters to 40% from the floor. WNMU drops to 1-5, 0-2 in the RMAC. Christian improves to 4-2, 1-1.

WNMU will have a pair on the road next weekend as they visit Colorado Mesa on Friday night and Western State College on Saturday.
