WNMU men's basketball got 2 wins over the weekend to open up play in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Stangs join five other teams at 2-0 in the conference standings. Fort Lewis, Adams State, Colorado Mesa and Western State all opened the conference season with perfect weekends. Metro State is also undefeated at 1-0 in the conference standings and remains at #3 in the national rankings.

Colton Burgon, 6'8" senior forward from Colorado Mesa, was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week. Burgon led the Mavericks to two victories on the road at Chadron State (77-62) and Black Hills State (86-72) scoring a game high 26 points at Chadron followed by a game high 19 points and 9 rebounds at Black Hills State. Burgon was 11-16 shooting on Friday night then was 8-12 from the floor on Saturday for a 68% success rate in shooting for the weekend.

Kaimyn Pruit, 6'8" senior forward from Adams State, was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts. Pruitt grabbed 14 rebounds on Friday night in an OT win at CSU Pueblo to go along with 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. He improved on that performance Saturday at UC Colorado Springs with 17 rebounds adding 3 steals and 2 more blocked shots in ASU's win. He also averaged 14 points over the weekend recording double/doubles in both games.

Several games this weekend feature teams tied for first place including the Mustangs playing both Colorado Mesa and Western State on the road. Those games can be heard on KSCQ 92.9 FM beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night. Ft. Lewis will also take on Adams State on Saturday night in another matchup of conference unbeaten teams.
