Santa Fe, NM - The 2016 Legislative Session is almost three weeks in and House Republicans are working hard to pass laws and a budget that will improve safety for New Mexicans.
Meanwhile, Senate Democrats have been obstructing good legislation and ignoring the people of New Mexico. Two bills that will increase the penalties for child abuse sponsored by Rep. Conrad James are still languishing in the Senate after over a week. In addition, a bill that will protect New Mexicans from violent repeat offenders, also called "Lilly's Law," is still waiting to be heard in the Senate.
