SANTA FE, NM - New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry (ACI) applauds the House of Representatives for passing House Bill 283 (Unemployment Insurance Contribution Rates) with overwhelmingly bipartisan support on a 65-4 vote.
House Bill 283, sponsored by Representative Larry Larranaga (R - Albuquerque), would help alleviate the financial burden for employers experiencing skyrocketing unemployment insurance rates - some increases as high as 400 percent.
"New Mexico business have recently been hit hard by skyrocketing unemployment insurance rates," said Jason Espinoza, President of ACI. "This bill would provide financial relief and increased predictability for small businesses across the state so that they can create jobs, grow and succeed."
