Starting off the ceremony new council officers were sworn in, and old officers were retired. This year's officers are President Justin Billings, Vice President Austin Harsh, Secretary Carson Billings, Treasurer Cody Lewis, Reporter Tanna Goar and Song and Rec leader Ashleigh Armijo. Retiring officers are President Cursten Blanton, Vice President Hanna Miller, Secretary Austin Harsh, Treasurer Ashleigh Armijo, and Song and Rec Tanna Goar. Thank you retirees for your hard work and dedication over the last year. We are excited to see what our new county officers will bring this year.
Through the year we had several outstanding 4-H members who received awards for various activities. Krysten Jones received the high point novice record book award, Sarah Gardner for the high point Junior record book, and Christopher Morgan for high point senior record book.
County Commissioner Billy Billings and State representative Rebecca Dow awarded one of our senior 4-Hers a baking scholarship of $500.00 to Cursten Blanton. Cursten will be attending NMSU in the fall working towards an Ag degree.
Not only do we have outstanding 4-H members but we also have outstanding volunteers. This year we were honored to present the 2018 friend of 4-H Award to Heather Steroup, the manager of Tractor Supply. Heather has been a huge help and support to the 4-H. We are looking forward to the great year ahead and to see what accomplishments our 4-H youth will make this year.
