Dear Editor:

In recent months, people in Silver City, Grant County, etc., have been sending mail through our local post office only to discover that their mail is not getting to the intended addresses but simply vanishing from sight. I offer my own personal experience as an example. Since June of this year, I have sent a number of payments to pay bills, along with other mail, all of which are unaccounted for to this day. Not one of them had arrived at the intended destinations, nor have they come back to me for some "undeliverable" reason.

I spoke with the manager of our post office here in Silver City and that discussion didn't seem to go anywhere. The manager admitted that he is aware that a problem exists but that the problems are occurring at the El Paso location and it therefore is out of his control. When I suggested elevating this concern to higher-level management, his response seemed to suggest that this would probably not be a high-priority issue.

One would think that issues with the U.S. mail would be taken very seriously.
