DEMING, N.M. — A multi-phase pavement preservation project on Interstate 10 will begin on Monday, Oct. 26, between Deming East exit 85 and exit 116 (NM 549).

Dismuke Construction Co. will begin a $1.2 million crack-sealing project at Exit 85 and work east toward Exit 116. Lane closures and reduced speed limits will be in place. Work will take place seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On or about Monday, Nov. 16, Mountain States Constructors will begin a $1.9 million milling and paving operation on I-10 ramps and approaches between Exit 85 and Exit 116. On- and off-ramps will be temporarily closed as work progresses. Construction hours will be Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Once temperatures allow, New Mexico Department of Transportation maintenance crews will complete the project by applying a fog seal to the treated pavement and replacing pavement markings.

The project is expected to be completed in early 2027.

Drivers are urged to slow down, obey all traffic control devices and use caution when traveling through the work zone. Reduced speed limits are in place to protect motorists and highway workers.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation is committed to the safety of the traveling public and thanks drivers for their cooperation during construction. For the latest travel information, visit nmroads.com or call 511.
