SILVER CITY, NM — The cameras are rolling again, the suspects are assembling, and someone is about to meet a most unfortunate end!

Following its October 23 dinner theatre fundraiser benefiting the Gila Regional Medical Center Foundation, Murder Is on the Air is returning for one more performance on Friday, October 30, at The Hearth, 1915 N. Swan Street, in Silver City.

Presented by TheActrix Studio LLC and directed by Wendy Spurgeon, this interactive comedy mystery transports audiences back to 1957, when television was live, sitcom stars were larger than life, and an exploding cigar could bring an entire broadcast to a screeching halt.

The story unfolds behind the scenes of The Lizzie Show, America's favorite fictional television sitcom. As the cast and crew prepare for another live broadcast, backstage rivalries, romantic entanglements, and simmering resentments threaten to boil over.

Then someone turns up dead.

Enter Detective Jack Thursday, who has no intention of leaving until someone answers for the crime. But he won't be conducting the investigation alone. Audience members become detectives themselves, working with their tablemates to question suspects, examine motives, and determine whodunit before the mystery is revealed.

And the suspects are anything but cooperative!

A Community Comes Together

The October 23 production brought local performers, volunteers, businesses, and audience members together in support of the Gila Regional Medical Center Foundation and its work on behalf of community healthcare.

For Spurgeon, the production represents something she loves about community theatre: the way people can transform their time and talents into something that benefits their neighbors.

"There's something wonderful about watching people give what they have, their time, their talent, their creativity, and their willingness to be completely ridiculous onstage, and seeing all of that become something that serves our community. We get to make people laugh, and we get to do some good along the way. That's a pretty special combination.", says Spurgeon.

The Cast Gets Another Chance to Play

The production features a colorful ensemble of local performers, including Deanna Duncan as sitcom star Lizzie Bell, Emma Eileen McKinley as her ambitious co-star Macie Dixon, Christophe Maso as visiting movie heartthrob Ricardo Montelato, and Gregg Jarrette as the determined Detective Jack Thursday.

"We have and excellent cast, and each member brings brilliant energy to their characters!  The whole show was a blast to put together!" says Duncan.

The cast also includes Scott Tellywag, Reyes Silva, Erin Griffith, and David Smith, along with a lively supporting ensemble.

For the actors, the encore offers another opportunity to enjoy the unpredictable energy that makes live comedy so much fun.

Jarrette adds. "As a seasoned detective always called in to solve the hardest cases, I always look forward to using the audience to make ME look good!"

Audience member Stephanie Demme pipes in, "A great time and a great cause, TheActrix Studios has another winner! Totally enjoyable, thanks so much!"

One More Night of Murder, Mystery, and Mayhem

The October 30 encore moves the action to the intimate setting of The Hearth, giving audiences another opportunity to enjoy the mystery up close.

Guests may choose dinner and the performance or attend the show only. Themed 1950s attire is encouraged but not required.
