Silver City, NM, March 12, 2026----Award-winning journalist Nico Lang will be at Avalon Books and Music, 405 N. Bullard, on Friday, March 20th, 6:00 PM. They will be reading from their book American Teenager: How Trans Kids are Surviving Hate and Finding Joy in a Turbulent Era, and there will be a question and answer period. Light refreshments will be served.
Nico Lang (they/them) is a nonbinary journalist and the creator of Queer News Daily (@queernewsdaily), with more than a decade of experience covering the transgender community's fight for equality. Their work has appeared in major publications, including Rolling Stone, Esquire, The New York Times, Vox, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times. Lang previously served as the deputy editor of Out magazine, the news editor for Them, and the LGBTQ+ correspondent for VICE. Their contributions to queer media have resulted in a GLADD Media Award and ten awards from the National Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists (NLGJA). Lang is also the first-ever recipient of the Visibility Award from the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund, an honor created to recognize their impactful contributions to reporting on the lives of LGBTQ+ people.
