"Tree New Mexico is an urban forestry nonprofit dedicated to help communities plant and care for trees in urban areas throughout The Land of Enchantment. With volunteers, we plant 50-100 free trees in front yards to assure a cooler future for the community. The Silver City branch was founded in Oct 2025, and in that short time 125 trees have been planted. Bayard and Hurley are next on our Autumn planting schedule," Kendra Milligan, one of the Silver City coordinators said.
Tree NM's Silver City co-coordinators Loretta Maruffo, Kendra Milligan and Bill Null plant trees and educate on the importance of shade to cool our county in this changing climate.
