FIERRO: Mary Ellen Fierro, 84, of Silver City, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Feb. 11, 2026. She was born in Vanadium, New Mexico, on July 6, 1941, to Antonia Salaiz and Antonio Fierro Sr.

She leaves behind her siblings, Concepcion (Chon) (Elizabeth) Fierro from Bayard, Raquel Delgado from Silver City, Ruth Fierro from Mesa, Arizona, Eloy (Charlene) Fierro from Cypress, California, Ramona (Gilbert) Navarro from Surprise, Arizona, Robert (Anani) Fierro from Arlita, California, and Sylvia Fierro from Santa Clarita, California, along with numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Antonio (Tony) Fierro Jr.; and sister, Carmen Galicia.

 Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, at Santa Clara Apostolic Church, located at 906 Oak St., Santa Clara, NM 88023, at 10 a.m. Burial is to follow at Memory Lane.

Rodolfo Lopez Castillo, 99, of Bayard passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Gila Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will take place on Friday, February 20, 2026 at ten-thirty in the morning at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard followed by the Funeral Mass at eleven-thirty.  Concluding service and burial will be at one o'clock in the afternoon at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.  Officiating will be Father Martin Okonkwo.

Diane M. Padilla, 77, of Silver City passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces. Arrangements are pending under the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.

Juan Jaramillo Padilla, 89, of Silver City passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Advanced Care Hospital in Las Cruces. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.

Roger Dean Barris, 75, a proud United States Army Veteran of Arenas Valley, passed away peacefully after an extended illness at the family home on January 31, 2026. 

Roger was born March 11, 1951 in Flaglar, CO to Paul and Edna Barris.  Roger was drafted into the Army in 1970, where he served honorably for 22 years.  During his military career, Roger served as a Drill Sergeant and later on as a Recruiter.  Retiring from the Army in 1993.  Following his military service, Roger worked for Phelps Dodge as a laborer, and as an Electric Shop Repairman in the cable room.  He retired from Freeport MacMoran in 2013.

In 1994, Roger met the love of his life Barbara and they married a year later in 1995; combining their family into five adult children, twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.  Roger and Barbara loved dancing together, spending time camping in their RV with friends, hunting and fishing, attending Elks Lodge events and enthusiastically cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.  Roger was a 43-year member of the Silver City Elks Lodge where he built lasting friendships and community ties.  Roger and Barbara could be seen dancing together anywhere country music could be found.

Samuel "Sam" Homer Ruebush, 82, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at his residence.  He was born October 21, 1943 in Deming, NM to Alymer and June (McCain) Ruebush.

Sam had deep roots in Southern New Mexico. Growing up a farmer's son in Deming, he moved to Silver City in the late 60's to build a life for his young family.

Everyone loved Sam. He was generous, kind and never met a stranger. After retiring from his long-time career as a real estate appraiser, he became passionate about gardening, cooking and collecting wine. He loved watching baseball with Judy or going on spontaneous trips, usually right here in New Mexico.

Sam had a brilliant sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to laugh. In his quiet time, he enjoyed reading and texting with his kids and granddaughters. He will be sorely missed by so many. He was a truly great man.
