Senate Republican Leader Greg Baca Issues Statement on Signing of Clean Fuel Standards Bill

SANTA FE—Today, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed House Bill 41, Clean Transportation Fuel Standards, into law. The measure now gives expanded authority to the unelected Environmental Improvement Board (EIB) to impose a carbon credit system to reduce carbon emissions from transportation fuels.

Senate Republican Leader, Senator Greg Baca (R-Belen), issued the following statement regarding the bill's signing:

"This action will harm hard-working New Mexicans who now will have to spend more of their hard-earned dollars at the gas pump. In order to appease radical environmentalists, the Governor and Democrat leaders have targeted our New Mexico-based producers and our vital energy economy. Harmful efforts like this must not go unchecked, and this November, I hope voters remember those responsible for rabid inflation and skyrocketing gas prices."
