Photo: PNM crews on Tuesday morning were at work reattaching electrical wires to the replacement pole after it was sheared off in an early Saturday morning accident. The remains of the sheared off pole can be seen slightly to the left of the new pole.
The pole was held up over the weekend by a PNM truck with a crane on it. The pole was sheared off when a suspect, Carlos J. Silvers Jr. alegedly driving while intoxicated, missed the turn at Pinos Altos Road and Pine Street, hit an embankment, became airborne, hit the pole and rolled his vehicle. After being extricated from his vehicle he was transported to Gila Regional Medical Center with injuries and then sent to El Paso for treatment.
