Synopsis: Police Pursuit

Narrative:

On Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 12:30 AM officers of the Silver City Police Department assisted the Grant County Sheriffs Department in a vehicle pursuit within the Town of Silver City.

While assisting the Sheriffs Office in the pursuit, three Silver City Police Department units were struck and damaged by the vehicle being pursued.

During the pursuit, the vehicle struck a Sheriffs Department unit, pushing it into a Silver City Police Department unit, pinning a Silver City Police Officer between units. The pinned officer fired his duty weapon at vehicle in an attempt to stop the vehicle from continuing. Several officers had to jump out of the way of vehicle for fear of being intentionally struck by the vehicle.

The pursuit was terminated at 14th and Swan Street where a male subject was taken into custody.

The New Mexico State Police is the lead agency investigating this incident.
