Funds raised will be distributed to the Gila Regional Medical Center Cancer Center, a 501c3, to be used expressly to ease the burden placed on patients who are experiencing financial hardship due to their cancer treatment. A portion of the monies, fifty percent (50%), may be used as seen fit by Gila Regional Cancer Center to assist in the cost of mammograms for uninsured women in Grant, Luna, Hidalgo, and Catron Counties. Our intent is that no patient should have to make a choice between necessary treatment and meeting their financial obligations, namely food, fuel, or utilities.
"It is our belief that no one should have to make a choice between receiving life-saving treatment and providing for the immediate needs of their family, such as groceries, utilities o fuel. women should be able to get a lifesaving mammogram, regardless of their ability to pay," the website rope4hope.org stated. "Our intent is to raise money that will be distributed such that it eases that burden for patients in Grant, Hidalgo, Luna and Catron counties."
Denice Baird, who owns with her husband Baird Arena in Cliff, where the event was held, was the main organizer.
