New Mexico Game and Fish to host Catron County 3-D archery shoot June 28
Reserve, NM, June 24, 2025—Gila National Forest has issued a special use permit to New Mexico Department of Game and Fish to host a community archery event at Apache Creek Campground June 28, 2025. Apache Creek Campground will be closed to public camping June 27 and 28 for the event.
"This will be a fun community event, and an opportunity to learn or show off your archery skills," said Reserve District Ranger Daisy Kinsey. "As a newer member of the Catron County community, I look forward to being there and getting to know more of my neighbors."
The Catron County 3-D Archery Shoot will consist of 15 targets set up around the exterior of Apache Creek Campground, using the established campsites. Target distances will range from 10 to 60 yards. Participants can bring their own bows and field-tipped arrows or may borrow recurve bow and arrows from New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. With enough participation, divisions may be created based on equipment, age, and/or gender. NM Game and Fish may bring along their indoor pellet range trailer and Reserve Ranger District staff will host an interactive booth. All ages are welcome; youth under 18 years of age should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
This event will provide an opportunity for Catron County community members to engage with New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, Gila National Forest staff, and other community members in a fun outdoor activity.
