Santa Fe, NM - Carrie B. Moritomo has been named Communications Director of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, Cabinet Secretary Veronica Gonzales announced today. Moritomo will start her exempt position on November 26.

"Carrie Moritomo is a communications professional with a passion for our state's arts and culture," Gonzales said. "We're thrilled to have her on board after an extensive search."

Moritomo has vast state government experience, having worked for the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions, as well as the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. She has also served as Communications and Marketing Manager for the Cultural Enrichment Department for the City of Rio Rancho, Superintendent for the Community Services Division at Rio Rancho's Parks and Recreation Department, and Rio Rancho's Keep America Beautiful Coordinator.

Moritomo has a master's degree in recreation/natural resources from the University of New Mexico where she also received a bachelor's degree in recreation/administration. She is a member of the National Association of Government Communicators.

"I am excited to return to the field of communications with such a diverse and vibrant agency like the Department of Cultural Affairs. I am anxious to utilize my skills to further the department's communication initiatives," Moritomo said.
