The Fort Bayard Historic Preservation Society Announces Additional Opportunities to Discover Fort Bayard National Historic Landmark.

To promote Heritage Tourism in southwestern New Mexico, the Fort Bayard Historic Preservation Society will host walking tours led by society members every Saturday from April through September starting at 9:30. Participants are to meet at the Fort Bayard Museum, once the 1910 Commanding Officer's Quarters (house 26) located on the west side of the Parade Ground,

The Fort Bayard Museum will also be open every Monday from 10 - 2. The three stories with many rooms are filled with pictures and relics that share the history of the National Historic Landmark. Several pieces of furniture and smaller pieces have been moved from the 1922 Veteran's Hospital which currently is being demolished.

Although there is no fees, donations to suypport the goals of preservation and restoration of the site, and collection of items that were taken from the site or restoration of phiotos from the past are appreciated.
