What if you had a serious accident or illness and couldn't speak for yourself? Whom would you want to make health care decisions for you?

The answers to these important questions are answered in documents called Advanced Directives. These documents state your wishes about medical care in case you are not able to make decisions for yourself. They guide your doctors in providing care for you. There are three important types of advance directives -- Living Will, Medical power of attorney, and a DNR (do not resuscitate) order.

To aid you in making your wishes known Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC) Foundation is hosting a free seminar titled Your Wishes -- Advanced Directives. The seminar is scheduled for January 23, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Gila Regional Conference Room. The presentation will be given by GRMC Hospice Bereavement Councilor Chris McIntosh and GRMC Hospice Social Worker Judie Dominguez.

Each participant will receive a free Advanced Directives form to take home for their use. There is limited space. To save your space, contact GRMC Foundation Coordinator Ashleigh Garcia 575-538-4138.
