Santa Fe, NM – Several legislative interim committees are meeting next week at the capitol in Santa Fe. The Revenue Stabilization and Tax Policy Committee will meet Monday and Tuesday, September 17–18. The Tobacco Settlement Revenue Oversight Committee will meet Wednesday, October 31, and the Economic and Rural Development Committee will meet on Thursday, November 1.

Revenue Stabilization and Tax Policy Committee chairman Representative Edward C. Sandoval (D-Bernalillo-17) will call the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Monday in room 322 of the state capitol. Topics include a report on job creation incentives and various legislative proposals. The meeting continues Tuesday morning with reports on capital outlay and the solvency of retiree programs.

The Tobacco Settlement Revenue Oversight Committee will meet Wednesday, October 31, at 10:00 a.m. in room 311 of the state capitol. Representative Gail Chasey (D-Bernalillo-18) and Senator Mary Jane Garcia (D-Doña Ana-36) serve as co-chairs. The committee will hear reports on revenue projections for the Tobacco Settlement permanent and program funds. They will also discuss proposed legislation for the upcoming session.

On Thursday, the Economic and Rural Development Committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. in room 322 of the state capitol. There will be a panel discussion on the Legislative Finance Committee's (LFC) evaluation of job creation incentives with LFC staff and cabinet secretaries of several state agencies. Other presentations to the committee concern legislation related to economic development. Representative Debbie Rodella (D-Rio Arriba, Sandoval, Taos-41) is chair of the committee.
