Louis Garcia works to revive the traditional Pueblo weaving. He will be giving an introduction to his work and share a little about the ancient textile tradition of the Southwest Pueblos at Wild West Weaving, Friday November 2nd at 6pm.

A more in-depth perspective of the work he is doing and demonstrations of traditional Pueblo weaving and spinning can bee seen on Saturday November 3rd at the Living Arts Studio in conjunction with the Mimbres Valley Artisans, from 9am-4pm. This is at 2846 Hwy 35N, Mimbres,NM.

Louis will be giving a workshop on Sunday November 4th from 10am-3:30pm at the Living Arts Studio. This will be a five-hour workshop on traditional Pueblo spinning. He will share a brief history of Pueblo weaving via powerpoint presentation. He will also bring samples of both historic and contemporary Pueblo textiles to examine up close to appreciate the finer details of Pueblo textiles. Handouts, cotton fiber, willow switches, cotton cards and traditional spindles will also be provided for the workshop. Participants will have the option of purchasing their Pueblo spindle upon completion of the workshop for $25. Cost for this workshop is $50/participant, and there is a limit of 10 participants.

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will:
- Become familiar with the importance and significance of weaving in Pueblo cosmology
- Gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the ancient techniques of Pueblo fiber
preparation (cotton) and spinning techniques
- Become familiar with both "willowing" as well as cotton cards for fiber preparation
- Differentiate between "worsted" and "woolen" spinning
- Gain familiarity with a traditional Pueblo spindle
- Learn the difference between "S" and "Z" spin and twist and their uses
- Learn to be respectful of cultural and intellectual property rights
