The New Mexico Waiver Providers Association is a group composed primarily of Family Living Providers working under the State's Developmental Disability "DD" Waiver program.

Organized earlier in 2012; the NMWPA is efforting preliminary attempts to reach out to Family Living Providers, Substitute Care Providers, Therapists, Surrogate Providers, Parents as well as those on the ever-growing DD Waiver "waiting list."

What we are trying to do: Educate those throughout the DD Waiver community, statewide, regarding the significant and substantial changes proposed to impact New Mexico's developmentally and intellectually disabled population.

Why we are doing this: At the very least, it is the Association's opinion the State of New Mexico has acted disingenuously. The State's Development Disability Supports Division (DDSD), under the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) is working (in our view), to end Family Living as we know it. The DDSD has introduced an assessment test known as the SIS (Supports Intensity Scale), the results of which; are systematically reducing budgets, minimizing therapies, threatening family stability and creating a caustic atmosphere at nearly all levels service provision.
When and Where we will be: This outreach meeting will be held:

Saturday, November 17, 1:30-3:30 PM

3060 Highway 180 East
at the corner of Hwy 180 & 32nd St., by-pass road.
(Next door to Dr. Arizaga's Off)
SILVER CITY, NM

Please make plans to join our "open format" group forum for what we hope will be an informative and educational opportunity for those interested in obtaining answers to what are increasingly complex questions and concerns.

We anticipate our visit to last approximately two (2) hours, during which time we will happily distribute copies of our informative brochures as well as copies of the AAIDD "SIS" (Supports Intensity Scale) Test for your review and familiarization as well as earnestly attempt to answer as many questions as possible.

The New Mexico Waiver Provider's Association is open to Provider's and allies alike. We invite your active, positive, participation in our open-forum, group format. Those unfamiliar with this concept are encouraged to attend and experience the opportunity to express ideas with the understanding it continues to be our intent, first and foremost, to address the many and often, increasingly overwhelming, issues confronting Provider's and Individuals under the State of New Mexico's DD Waiver program.
