Lordsburg, NM (October 20, 2011) Today, Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement in regard to Hidalgo County's resolution asserting their preferred site for the Forward Operating Base that will be built in the county:
"I commend the Hidalgo County Commission for listening to constituents and passing a resolution to let Border Patrol know of their preferred site for the Forward Operating Base," said Pearce. "Border issues are of great concern to New Mexicans, and they have the right to be involved in the decision making process. The people are best served when everyone is at the table on decisions such as these. Cooperation between local and federal government is imperative to ensure that the voice of the people is heard."
On October 12th, Hidalgo County Commissioners voted on a resolution to assert their preference of the Forward Operating Base closest to the border.
