Teaches importance of electricity, natural resources, and their impact on the environment

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Next week, students in fifth grade classrooms across New Mexico will participate in a fun and interactive program with an important message. The PNM Home Works program helps students learn about energy in a relatable way, equips them with tools to take control of their electricity usage, all while helping their families save on their PNM bill.

The PNM Home Works program, now in its fifth year, has provided energy efficiency take-home kits to more than 30,800 fifth graders across the state. The kits are filled with items to help reduce energy waste and encourages the change to start at home. This month, PNM will add 54 New Mexico elementary school classrooms, talking to over 3,000 students, and will teach how electricity is created, the importance of saving energy, protecting natural resources and being environmentally conscious in their own homes.

Media is invited to see these students in action at the following Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Rio Rancho schools. Other city school presentation schedules are available by request. Media interviews available at each location below. This is not a public event.
