JTIP Board Approves $93,942 in Funding
SANTA FE – The New Mexico Economic Development Department's Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) Board approved $93,942 in funds during its November meeting. The funds will help cover the cost of training six employees at five different expanding companies.
"JTIP is one of our Department's most successful incentive programs in helping new and existing businesses receive funding to train new employees," said Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela. "Ensuring the JTIP program has adequate funding for new and growing businesses is one of the Martinez Administration's priorities for the upcoming Legislative Session."
This month's JTIP recipients are:
- UniRac, Inc. – Albuquerque – UniRac, Inc. was founded in Albuquerque, NM in 1999. The company is considered a leader in the photovoltaic mounting market and is comprised of two major divisions: Residential/Light Commercial, which supplies distributors with racking systems for use on homes and small businesses nationally; and Commercial/Utility, which supplies mounting systems for large commercial solar installations worldwide. $37,299 – two jobs
- Exhib-it! – Albuquerque - Founded in 2000 by DJ Heckes in Albuquerque, NM Exhib-it! specializes in the design and production of exhibits and graphics for the tradeshow industry. Exhib-it! is a GSA Certified, woman-owned small business that started out with one employee and has grown to a staff of seven. $12,631 – one job
- IntelliCyt – Albuquerque - IntelliCyt is a life sciences technology company that develops, manufactures, sells and supports innovative high throughput flow cytometry products for life sciences research and drug discovery. These products, based on technology licensed from the University of New Mexico, allow customers to discover new and better ways to predict and treat disease. $8,500 – one job
- MSDSpro, LLC – Rio Rancho - MSDSpro, LLC was founded in 1995 in Anchorage, Alaska and is currently transitioning its headquarters to Rio Rancho, NM. The company is committed to providing material safety data sheet (MSDS) information, software and service solutions that secure employee safety and maintain state and federal regulation compliance, while streamlining MSDS administrative tasks and reducing costs for organizations of every size. $18,323 – one job
- ClosedWon – Albuquerque - ClosedWon provides web application development, enterprise solutions and Salesforce CRM consulting to businesses primarily in California, Arizona, Tennessee, Florida, Texas, New York and Switzerland. The company's services are sold in either customized packages tailored to meet customers' specific requirements or as on-going support contracts. $17,189 – one job
About JTIP
The Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) reimburses qualified economic-based companies for a portion of training costs associated with job creation. The program provides for classroom or on-the-job training, reimbursing an expanding or relocating business for up to 75 percent of a trainee's wages for as long as six months. The amount of the award depends on the number and complexity of jobs, the wages paid, and the business location.
To qualify, new or expanding companies must either create a product in New Mexico, or provide a non-retail service with 50 percent of the company's customer and revenue base outside of the state. The eligible jobs must be full-time and year-round. The trainee must be a new hire to the company and have been a New Mexico resident for at least one continuous year at any time prior to being hired.
