THE SOUTHWEST Native Plant Primer Book Release
235 Plants for an Earth-Friendly Garden
2:00pm
In the Lodge
Join us for Book Release by horticulturalist and writer, Jack Dash.
There is increasing interest in the American southwest about using native plants in home and commercial gardens to knit together landscapes impacted by habitat fragmentation and climate change. The Southwest Native Plant Primer is a new book that introduces important concepts for arid-land gardeners, while highlighting 235 wildflowers, grasses, vines, cacti, and trees. This book is recommended for gardeners of any skill level interested in choosing native plants for a garden that makes a positive environmental impact. It covers a broad area including New Mexico, Arizona, and the southern portions of Utah and Colorado. Though there are vast differences between locations within this region there are also surprising commonalities that this book will highlight. As the Southwest grows in population, but water becomes increasingly scarce, this book focuses on the role that native plants and water-wise planting can have in fostering sustainability for all life in the region. In doing so The Southwest Native Plant Primer fills an important gap in literature about gardening in the region, serving as a resource to new and old gardeners alike, providing up to date information about current best practices for gardening in the Southwest. This book is about encouraging people to garden with nature, not against it.
Jack Dash is a horticulturalist and writer based in Tucson, Arizona. A graduate of Prescott College, Jack is a board member of The Arizona Native Plant Society and co-editor of its biannual publication, the "Plant Press Arizona". He is the Gardens Manager at Tohono Chul botanical garden and an advocate for ecologically-based urban landscaping. Jack is the co-creator of "Atascosa Borderlands" a visual storytelling project centered on the culture and ecology of the Atascosa Highlands in southern Arizona.
Sponsored by the Gila Native Plant Society.

Free Range Buddahs
New Mexico Folk Americana/ Alt Folk Rock
Doors: 7:00pm • $5 Suggested Donation
Santa Fe's psychedelic alternative folk-rock experiment, Free Range Buddhas, has been stirring audiences since 2016. Often FRB get likened to other free-spirited ensembles such as King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Allman Brothers Band, Blind Melon, Fleetwood Mac, and Jefferson Airplane, to name a few. Following the positive reception of their 2022 LP, "Ritual," the band gleefully released their much-anticipated sophomore album "Hatched" May 2nd 2025. In the lead up to what the band has described as being their most evolved body of work to date, they've been busy hitting it hard, releasing several singles and taking home the award for Best Modern Rock Song at the 2024 New Mexico Music Awards for "End of the Story", and "Best Cover Song" for their surf rock version of Van Morrison's Into The Mystic in 2025. Their latest releases, Wild Woman, American Dream, and East Alameda St. highlight Free Range Buddhas' distinctive fusion of vintage psychedelic nostalgia and modern alt-rock flair.

Collaborative Songwriting Workshop with Jono Manson
So much about the art of songwriting can be elusive, and there is certainly some kind of magic that must occur in order for a great song to appear. But, just like any craft, there are disciplines and exercises which can help the writer to engage, to hone their skills, jumpstart the creative process, and more easily tune in to inspiration.
During this two-day workshop, participants will explore what makes songs work, and why, regardless genre or style. They will also help one another through constructive commentary on one another's work, practice engaging in collaborative co-writing, and numerous other exercises which Jono will bring to the table. Most importantly, this will be fun. These are, after all, only songs, so the process should be joyful.
About Jono Manson:
Jono Manson is a prolific singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer, with a career spanning over five decades. Manson has played everywhere from the local dive to Madison Square Garden and has amassed a discography that includes major label and indie releases on three continents. Born and raised in New York City, he currently makes his home in Santa Fe, NM, where he has put down deep roots in the local community, as a performer, educator, and organizer. He is the founder and chief engineer of "The Kitchen Sink" recording studio where he has produced albums for Grammy winners and local heroes alike. His songs are diverse and genre-bending and have been recorded by numerous artists, featured in major motion pictures on network television, as well as in national advertising campaigns.
"Manson attacks the high art of low-rent songcraft with a paid assassin's precision." - No Depression Magazine
"Listening to Jono Manson's 10th solo album—with its abundance of instant-grabber hooks and smartly constructed riffs, shiny melodies and warm harmonies, confident, seductive vocal performances and intelligent, relatable story lines—you have to wonder one thing. Why isn't this guy famous?" - Relix Magazine

Kimmi Bitter w/ Full Band
Classic Country
Doors 7pm • $10 Adv
Dubbed "the future of classic country" by Saving Country Music, Kimmi Bitter is painting a whole new tapestry that drapes golden-era Countrypolitan over the desert twang of the American Southwest.
Imagine the sun-soaked charm of Palm Springs circa '62 mixed with a dash of California coastal weirdness in a mod-inspired dreamscape. Kimmi Bitter is a paradox that echoes the traditions of classic country, yet feels like it's breaking all the rules at once. A rising force in the underground Americana scene she's mixing the old school with the new cool by capturing the attention of music fans and critics alike.
That boundary-pushing spirit came alive in her debut album Old School, which dropped in 2024 and came out swinging. It landed solidly on the Top 25 Americana Album Radio Chart and racked up a jaw-dropping eight nominations and three wins. But it didn't stop there—her album dominated the Alt. Country Specialty Charts for four weeks in a row, and earned an Album of the Year nod from Saving Country Music alongside Sierra Ferrell, Red Clay Strays, and Billy Strings. Her singles "Aquamarine" and "Cowboy Kind of Girl" claimed the coveted Song of the Year title at the 2024 and 2025 San Diego Music Awards consecutively, beating high-profile nominees like Jason Mraz and P.O.D. If that wasn't enough, her breakout year keeps rolling with a field-leading four nominations for the 2025 San Diego Music Awards and two wins for Song of the Year and Best Country or Americana Album. That's not just a sign of success—that's a signal that Kimmi's about to kick into high gear.
