The Housing and Behavioral Health Task Force, formerly known as the Citizens' Taskforce on Homelessness in Grant County, has been meeting since June of 2023. Current members of the task force will talk about the work the group has been doing. The speakers will include Patricia Cano, the founder and current chair of the task force, who is a lifelong resident of Silver City and a retired professor from Western New Mexico University. The second speaker will be Laura Aubry, the owner of Mint Chip Creamery who has been a member of the task force since its inception.
The presentation will cover the group's mission and vision, as well as the work of four standing committees, the major accomplishments and plans for the future. The speakers will describe their work with Corre Caminos to establish two additional bus stops to serve the residents of SPIN and persons needing to avail themselves of food distributions at THE COMMONS.

Caller advised they just received a call that a named male and a named female are fighting near a live stream/male is threatening to kill the female. Officers out with both parties/they are separated.

Leadership from the Associated Students of WNMU was recently in Santa Fe to advocate for their legislative requests. L-R: Arnav Arkanath, Brenda Dominguez, Rebekah Stevens, and Carlos CarranzaSILVER CITY—A team of leaders from the Associated Students of Western New Mexico University (ASWNMU) were recently in Santa Fe to advocate for requests they have made to the NM Legislature.
ASWNMU is requesting $300,000 for upgrades to the university's Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and $100,000 for residence hall improvements.
ASWNMU President Brenda Dominguez, a graduate student pursuing an MBA degree, explained that the new VDI will give students "remote access to any digital resource we have on campus from home."
