The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce today thanked Governor Susana Martinez for her leadership and persistence in ensuring the successful passage of legislation which will make New Mexico driver's licenses REAL ID Act compliant. The organization celebrated the concurrence of HB 99 by the House of Representatives just minutes ago and thanked the Governor for her personal dedication to the issue.

"This proves yet again that Governor Martinez is made up of equal parts of perseverance and integrity," said Sherman McCorkle, Vice Chair of Business Advocacy for the Chamber. "Bringing New Mexico into compliance with the REAL ID Act is good for the security of the nation and is good for public safety and jobs in New Mexico."

"Bringing New Mexico into compliance with the Act was a long and difficult process, but Governor Martinez never wavered," added Terri Cole, Chamber president and CEO. "She knew what was right for the people of New Mexico and stayed committed to ensuring that our state's citizens would have the identification necessary to travel domestically or enter federal installations. We are grateful for her efforts."
