Portales, NM – August 8, 2025 – Eastern New Mexico University announced today welcome weekend activities, named ENMU Dawg Days, for new and continuing students August 16-18, 2025. 

"Dawg Days is a wonderful ENMU tradition where we welcome the new members of our Greyhound family and welcome back our continuing students," said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. "Students and families are able to experience our unique family culture both on campus and in the Portales community."

Move-in day is Saturday, August 16, for new students from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; returning students can move in from 1 to 5 p.m. ENMU faculty, staff, and student groups will be out Saturday morning, August 16, from 8 a.m. until Noon to help new students move into their dorms.

ENMU Dawg Days kicks off on Saturday afternoon with the Family/Community Fair, Pep Rally, and Barbecue at 5 p.m. at Dallan Sanders Patio outside the Campus Union Building. 

The Office of Campus Life has lined up three nights of Entertainment for ENMU Students as part of Dawg Days. On Saturday night, students will participate in a glow-in-the-dark party featuring DJ Rob-E. The glow in the dark party is a neon-fueled, blacklight glow in the dark party like no other.

On Sunday. Aug 17, ENMU welcomes Sailesh the Hypnotist to the Campus Union Building Ballroom at 8 p.m.  With a unique blend of comedy, mesmerizing hypnosis, and audience participation, Sailesh has enthralled audiences worldwide. As an award-winning performer and certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Sailesh combines his hypnotic expertise with a passion for empowering individuals.

On Monday, Aug. 18, ENMU welcomes comedian Ronnie Jordan at 8 p.m. to the Campus Union Building Ballroom.  Jordan has been featured on BET's Comic View, Martin Lawrence Presents The 1st Amendment Stand-up, a 30-minute special for Kevin Hart's LOL Network, WE TV's Bossip, and an upcoming Netflix show.

Additional events during Dawg Days include a student organization fair on Sunday, where new and continuing students can learn about the different student organizations on campus that they can join. Additionally, on Monday, the annual Capture the Greyhound event is held for all first-year students, as well as the introduction to the First Year Seminar Class that helps first-year students find their place in both academic and social settings.
