Alvaro Rodriguez-Ponce, 58, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. He was born October 3, 1966 in Gomez y Gomez Nauriquipa, Chihuahua, Mexico to Manuel Ponce and Alvira Rodriguez.
Álvaro fue un hombre de gran fortaleza, compasión y humildad, cualidades que se reflejaban en el profundo amor que profesaba a su familia y a sus amigos. Fue un padre ejemplar, un esposo amoroso y un abuelo dedicado, cuya presencia marcó la vida de quienes lo rodearon. Destacó por su ética de trabajo y el orgullo que sentía por su oficio, realizando su labor con esmero y dedicación en beneficio de muchas personas del condado de Grant. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba de la tranquilidad de la naturaleza, así como de momentos de esparcimiento en plataformas como TikTok, donde encontraba alegría y conexión. Siempre mostró un sincero interés por el bienestar de los demás, brindando afecto y amabilidad a todos los que tuvo el privilegio de conocer. Su integridad y nobleza de espíritu lo convirtieron en un ser excepcional. Su partida deja un vacío profundo y su memoria será honrada y recordada con inmenso cariño .
Alvaro was a strong, compassionate, humble man; who loved his family and friends deeply. He was a wonderful father, husband, and grandfather. He was a hard worker who took pride in his craftsmanship and loved the work he got to do for so many in Grant County. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors in nature and enjoyed his TikTok time. He cared deeply for his family, friends, and everyone he met. He was the kindest man and he will be extremely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Ponce of the family home; his father, Manuel Ponce of Chihuahua, Mexico; his son, Alvaro Joan Ponce and wife Katia of Silver City; two daughters, Guadalupe Ponce and husband Ivan Villeslaz of Soto Maynes, Mexico; Luz Ponce of Silver City; eight grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; four brothers, Octavio Ponce and wife Lupe Camacho of Mexico; Lazaro Ponce and wife Graciela of Mexico; Alonso Ponce and wife Irma Chavez of Mexico; Martin Ponce of Mexico; two sisters, Margarita and Socorro Ponce of Mexico; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Alvira Rodriguez Ponce.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, August 14th at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor Reymundo Escobedo officiating. Concluding service interment will follow at St. Vincent cemetery. Pallbearers are Álvaro Joan Ponce, Daniel Martinez, Luis Perez, Joseph Parra, René Iturralde, and Michael Alderette.
