Dominguez Amalia

Amalia "Molly" Torres Dominguez, 96, a lifetime Grant County resident, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 in Silver City, NM.

Visitation will begin at 5 O'clock in the evening on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Silver City with the prayer vigil and Holy Rosary to begin at 6 o'clock, led by Deacon Bill Holguin and Mr. Alex Acosta. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 10 o'clock in the morning at the San Lorenzo Catholic Church. Father Paulus Kao will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the family plot at the San Lorenzo Cemetery.

Amalia was born January 31, 1916 in Mimbres, New Mexico to Camelio and Ignacia (Chavez) Torres. She married Joe B. Dominguez in 1932 and they had two daughters, Josie and Nora. Amalia was a school bus driver for Cobre Consolidated Schools. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of San Lorenzo Mission Church. She was loved by many, and she loved her family, friends, pets and her home in San Lorenzo.

She is survived by her granddaughters: Anna Acosta Estrada and husband, Antonio Estrada of Pearland, Texas and Deborah Acosta Conder, and husband Carl Conder of League City, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Vincent Conder, and Gabriel and Sara Estrada; son-in-law, Dan Cochrane of Whittier, California; sister, Adela Ortiz of San Lorenzo, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe B. Dominguez in 1994; her daughter, Nora Acosta in 2002; her son-in-law, Sam Acosta in 2003; and her daughter, Josie Cochrane in 2010; a brother Cecilio Torres and sisters Antonia Ortiz and Lumina Millan.

Serving as pallbearers are: Jimmy Torres, Jacob Kiss, Nicolai Purdy, Alfred Ortiz, Roy Ortiz, Eddie Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers are: Dan Cochrane, Carl Conder, Tony Estrada, Tony Torres, Rick Purdy, Sam Baca. And a very heartfelt thank you to Soledad "Chole" Horton.
