Charlie Ross Corliss, 67, of Silver City, New Mexico, passed away on October 22, 2025, just two days shy of his 68th birthday. Born on October 24, 1957, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Charlie lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and a deep love for the people and places he called home.
Charlie attended Mountainair High School before beginning a long and dedicated career with Kennecott, Phelps Dodge, Freeport-McMoran, and the Grant County Road Department. Through decades of labor, he built a reputation as a man of integrity and perseverance—someone who could always be counted on to get the job done.
To those who knew him best, Charlie was more than a steady worker. He was an outgoing, loving individual who gave generously to those he cared about. If you were fortunate enough to call Charlie a friend, you knew that friendship was for life. His humor, honesty, and fierce loyalty created lasting bonds that will be cherished by many.
Charlie's truest joys were found outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, but his greatest passion was horses. Racing and training horses was not just a pastime—it was his life's calling. His knowledge and dedication to the sport left an enduring mark on those who shared that love with him.
Charlie is survived by his mother Gladys L. Corliss, sister Doris Saiz, sister Cathy Harmon, brother Wesley Corliss, his two sons, Jerry L. Corliss and Billy J. Corliss, and grandson Braxton Corliss. He was preceded in death by his father Jack O. Corliss, as well as his brother Joe Corliss.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray Hotel, 200 West Broadway, Silver City. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a man who lived, loved, and worked wholeheartedly.
