Daniel G. "Danny" Bencomo, age 73, peacefully slept away safely to his new home, on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at the Glencroft Care Center in Glendale, Arizona. He had fought many medical battles until his body said no more, I'm tired, and our Lord decided it was time to take him home.
Danny loved his New Mexico and its beautiful mountains. He always wanted to return to his New Mexico, but his medical issues did not allow him to travel. As his final wish he is coming back as all services will be held at the Infant Jesus Holy Shrine in Hurley, on Monday, November 26, 2012, with a visitation at 10 O'clock in the morning with the Holy Rosary recited by Belen Montoya at 10:30. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 O'clock in the morning. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Hurley Cemetery.
He was born on July 4, 1939 in Silver City, NM to Carlos and Georgia Gomez Bencomo. He was raised in Bayard by his grandmother Rosa Braun and his aunt Lupe Bencomo. Danny had many jobs, titles, hobbies but his one and only heart belonged to his law enforcement duties. He truly enjoyed being a police officer and had many memories of those golden days. His favorite pastime was listening to his Tejano music especially that of his grandson Dave while dancing around the house and following his Dallas Cowboys with tons of Dallas memorabilia.
Danny is survived by his wife, Amelia Bencomo, Daughters, Katherine & husband David Jaramillo of Hurley, Eva Marie & husband David Caldwell of Glendale, Az., Sons, Luis Bencomo and Joe & wife Linda Bencomo all of Phoenix, Az. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren; Dave & wife Elizabeth Jaramillo, Chris & wife Tabitha Jaramillo, Angela & Kathy "Jr" Jaramillo, Maurice Thompson, Demetrius Caldwell, Alicia, Luis Antonio "L.A.", Danielle, Michael & Heaven Star Bencomo, Angelina & Deja Bencomo, Erica Davis, & Brittney Romero. Danny also had 13 Great-Grandchildren; Cassidy, Aryne, Nate, Dasia, Mia, Kaylynn, Mayah, Nathaniel, Jordan, Maurice Rochad Jr., Alexis, Jackson and Liliana. He is also survived by his sister Gloria Delgado & Brothers Robert & Anthony Flores of Fresno, Ca., Joe Bencomo of Belen, NM, Carlos, Speedy, & Teddy Bencomo of Duncan Az. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sister Rosa, Brother Manuel and in-laws Fred & Anita Apodaca.
Pallbearers will be Dave & Chris Jaramillo, Maurice Thompson, Demetrius Caldwell, Luis Bencomo and Oliver Terrazas. Honorary Pallbearers are L.A. Bencomo, Benny Gonzales, David Jaramillo Sr., David Vasquez, Ray Serna, Jesus & Judith Lopez, Lee Greenlee, David Jaramillo Jr., David Caldwell and all the rest of his grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
