In loving Memory of Margaret "Bobbie" Aguirre Placencio
July 9, 1936 - July 4, 2025
With profound love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Bobbie, who departed this world on Friday, July 4, 2025 at the age of 88. A light in the lives of all who knew her, she leaves behind a legacy of compassion, joy and unshakable love for her family.
Born in Deming, NM, to her parents, Edwardo and Maria Mercedes (Gonzales) Aguirre, Bobbie was a vibrant spirit from the beginning. As a child, she was known for zipping through the neighborhood on roller skates, laughter trailing behind her like music in the air. That same joyful energy would follow her throughout her life.
A mother to seven, she gave her whole heart to raising her children with strength, patience and unconditional love. She was the cornerstone of her family- nurturing, wise and always ready with a song on her lips. Her devotion to caregiving extended beyond her family; as a professional caregiver, she poured herself into helping others, offering comfort and kindness to those in need.
But it was through music that Bobbie expressed the deepest parts of her soul. A gifted singer, she formed her own band – one that proudly included her children- and performed with many others throughout the years. Her passion and talent led her to appear on the Johnny Canales Show, a testament to her dedication and vibrant presence in the Tejano music community. Her songs told stories of love, resilience and beauty, much like her life did.
To know her was to feel loved. She was a fierce protector, a gentle encourager and the heartbeat of every family gathering. Her legacy lives on in the voices of her children, the stories they tell and the music that still echoes in their hearts. Though we grieve, we take comfort in knowing she now sings with the angels, her voice rising among the stars.
She is survived by her four sons, Nestor Placencio of Silver City, NM, Reynaldo "Dindy" Placencio (Linda) of Las Cruces, NM, Victor "Wicky" Placencio (comp. Paula Rosales) of Silver City, NM, Orlando "Orly" Placencio of Silver City, NM; her three daughters, Martha Placencio of Silver City, NM, Lydia Murillo of Bayard, NM, Naomi "Nini" Madrid (David) of Silver City, NM; her brother, Eddie Joe Gonzales of Phoenix, AZ; her sister, Maria Elena Aguirre of Santa Ana, CA, her twenty-six grandchildren, seventy-one great-grandchildren and twenty-eight great-great grandchildren; her numerous nieces, nephews, compadres, comadres as well as many extended family members and countless friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwardo and Maria; her son, Daniel Placencio; her great-grandson, Richard Rico Hinojosa; her brothers, Marcos Aguirre, Carlos Aguirre, Pedro Gonzales and Juan Gonzales; her sisters, Maria Elizabeth Gonzales and Maria Guadalupe Aguirre.
