Washington, D.C. - ?Today, Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future, issued the following statement on Vice President Kamala Harris’ ?newfound support ?of hydraulic fracking:

“When an unnamed campaign official on a late Friday afternoon before a campaign event in a key energy swing state makes a major policy announcement, color me skeptical. In 2019, Harris made it clear there was ‘no question’ she supported a fracking ban. Now, 100 days before an election where she trails in the must-win state of Pennsylvania, we are supposed to believe she has reversed course when not one person, nor the candidate herself, has gone on-the-record with clarity. Energy workers are sick of such pandering and know that the past years of relentless attacks on their jobs speaks more than some anonymous tip to friendly media."

During a “CNN Climate Crisis Town Hall” in 2019, Harris declared, “There's no question I'm in favor of banning fracking, so yes. And starting -- and starting with what we can do on day one around public lands, right? And then there has to be legislation, but yes -- and this is something I've taken on in California. I have a history of working on this issue.”
